EGMONT FARMERS' UNION (Ltd.) REPORT.

Hawbba, June 21 We had a large entry o£ cattle at Stratford on Friday, the 22nd inst,, every I yard being packed, the class of stock that came f oiward being dairy and young cattle. There was a good muster of the public, and bidding was keen, especially for dairy stock, so that the greater part of what were yarded changed hands, prices being rather better than those of the previous sale. We quote— 2i-year steers, £& 7a 6d to £3 13s ; store cows, £3 to j63 15s ; fat cows, £3 18s to £4, 4 a; cows, in calf, £4, 7s 6d to £5 ss ; weaners, £1 10s to £1 12s 6d ; springers, £5 63 to £6 158. Our monthly, horse fair, which was held on Saturday the 23rd inst., was a very small one indeed, vejry few horses coming in for sale, and what were there being of medium quality. Bidding wa3 very slack, no one present appearing anxious to purchase, so that sales were effected with difficulty. We quote— trap horses, J6lO to jei2 15s ; hacks, £5 to £7 7s 6d. There was a full muster of stock at the Glover road yards, Hawera, on Wednesday, the 27th 'inst., the bulk of the entries being again fat and large store cattle. Though we had a very large attendance, including some outside buyers, bidding was very flat throughout, so that not much business was doae at the hammer, but we are pleased to Bay that we succeeded in placing a fair proportion of the cattle before leaving the yards, at prices Blightly lower than the reserves. Sheep were again in request, and we easily cleared the few that we had in. We quote— Fat bullocks, £6 15s to £6 17s 6d j 3-year steers, £4 10a j fat cows, JB3 15s to £4, 55 ; 18-month to 2isteers, £2 12s to £i 9s ; heifers, in calf, £2 13s to £3 5s 6d; springers, JE4 11s to £4> 15s. Sheep.— Ewes, in lamb, 53 to 7s 3d; wethers, 7s 3d.
