Mr Bruce, of New South Wales, considers the protection element too strong on tbe continent to allow, much being done there with frozen meat.

Tbe shearers' representatives have laid the dispute with the Paßtoralistß* Union before the Conciliation Board. The latter has requested the Pastoralists' Union to consider the matter, whioh will be done on July 8.

MELBOURNE, Judo 27.

Through a tree falling in tbe camp of some village settlers in Pern tree Gully a man named Hagboom, together with wife and child, was killed.

At the conference of associations interested in labor questions it was deoided to form a new political organisation ; and the conference adopted a programme dealing with electoral and social reform and taxation. It also advocates the establishment of a state bank, eight hours and a minimum wage on Government works, progressive taxation of town and country land, and value to be exclusive of improvements, and the adoption of the referendum.

ADELAIDE, Jane 27. The Treasurer announced that a subsidy to frozen meat, trade will be paid out of loan finance.
