THE FOX LETTER.

The publication by the Evening Post of a precis of the Fox Commission report forced the hand of tbe Premier, who promised to lay it on the table, if possible, to-night.

The Premier intimated last night that Mr Buckley had expressed a desire' to have the report of the Fox Letter Com* mission laid on tbe table of both Houses simultaneously, together with the evidence, and that would be done to-day.

On O'Hara Smith's report being laid on tbe Council table to day, Sir George Whitmore will move a resolution congratulatiog Sir P. A. Buckley on having come successfully out of the ordeal.

It is understood that Ministers have forwarded a memorandum to the Gover* nor, informing him, that their colleagues are completely exonerated by Mr Gilion, editor of Post, of any connection with supplying the Fox correspondence. Mr Stevens intends moving in the Goanoil that it 'is expedient that the Government should give come indication as to how tbe Death Duties proposed in England will affeot New Zealand.
