MELBOURNE, June 22.

In the Legislative Assembly, Mr Isaacs moved the second reading of the Libel Bill, which was intended to safeguard newspapers publishing accurate reports of meetings. The Treasurer opposed the bill, and in doing so said many of the newspapers had abused their powers . He urged that all articles should be signed and papers licensed, so that if aay ot them wantonly offended it could be suppressed. The Attorney-General also opposed the measure, contending that the press had already too much power. The debate was adjourned.
