RAILWAY RATES.
| Per Press Association.] ' SYDNEY, June 15.
A return prepared by tbe Eailway Commissioners shows that the Victorian Eailway Commissioners have reduced tbn rates ranging from 20 to as much as 60 per oent. in order to capture tbe oarriage of New South Wales border wool claim. It is estimated that 24,000 bales of wool grown in this colony are carried to tbe Victorian sea board annually. MELBOUENE, June 16.
The Eailway Commissioners have reoeived a letter from the New South Wales Commissioners, in whioh tbe latter state that it is their desire to secure a readjustment of rates on strictly commercial principles, without political interference. The Victorian Commissioners have replied expressing willingness for preferential rates, and to charge mileage if New South Wales does the same. It is unlikely tbat tbe latter colony will agree to this, as it would be al! in favor of Victoria owing to the proximity of tbe Eiverina district to Melbourne.
