EGMONT FARMERS' UNION (Ltd.) REPORT.
Hawsea, May 18. We held our fortnightly sale at Stratford on Friday, the 12th inst., when the yards" were fairly well filled with cattle of all kinds. The attendance was good and there was more inclination on the part of those present to purchase, so t]gpt the bnlk of the stock yarded changed hands before leaving the yarda. We quote: 2to 3-year steers £3 3s to £4 7s, 12 to 18-months mixed £118s 6d to £2 7s 6d, springers and 1 in calf £3 8s to £5 l'ss. At our Hawera stocs: sale held on Wednesday, the l'tth. inst., not quite all our i advertised entry of cattle came in, which, was the more to be regretted, as we bad | several buyers present who had come from I a distance in the hope of purchasing stock. * The cattle being of good quality were : nearly all sold, as we're also the two or three lines of sheep entered. We quote: forward bullocks £4 15s to £5 7s. 18months to 2-year steers .£3 8s to £4, weaners and yearlings 33s to 435. Sheep. —2-tooth aethers 11s sd, ewes and lambs, mixed, £4,103.
