The Land Act Prosecutions.

NEW PLYMOUTH, February 28. Tbe oharge against R. 0. Hendy, for making an alleged false declaration under tbe Land Act, was called on at tbe R.M. Court ibis morning. Mr Roy appeared for the Crown, and Mr Samuel for the defence. Mr O'Hara Smith, auditor for the Lands Department, with other witnesses, were ordered out of court during the bearing of tbe case. Sidney Weetman, Commissioner of Crown Lands, was the first witness, and produced the Gazette proclaiming section 5, block 4, Hawera, opened for sale or seleotion under tbe Land Amendment Aot, 1887, area 720 acree. Tbe examination is now going on.
