Poisoning Case at Auckland.

AUCKLAND, January 7. A case of poisoning resulted in the death of a young man named Walter Nelson, who came from tbe country to spend tbe holidays with his wife at the residence of bis grandmother. All m the house partook of jam sandwich, and were seized with the usaal symptoms of poisoning, but soon recovered. On Nelson's return for home, be also took jam sandwich, and became ill. The doctor was sent for, and emetics were administered. He got worse and died at midnight. It is expeoted that arsenic was used as one of the ingredients of the pastry. How it got there is a mystery.
Later.
A sample of cream of tartar obtained some time ago from the grocer who supplied Nelson's family was analysed yesterday and found to contain arsenic.
