Constable Ryan, who had obarge of the police station oh Sunday, deposed that linley said " I shot a man, arid I'm sorry I didn't shoot the whole five of them. Detective Herbert said that when he arrested Seel he asked if Greenrose was dead. On being informed be was, Seel , remarked •' That is the b who laid me out last night." „ This was all the evidence produced by ; , the police, and .an adjournment was made. WELLINGTON, September 22. ' , Both Seel and Finley, in their evidence .., at tbe inquest, denied that the former lknew anything about the latter having a /revolver or urged him to nse it till Greenk n>fie said he had been shot. One witness - for tbe defence said when the sailors boarded the Flint on Sunday morning Lynch said he was looking for Seel to give him a pair of black eyes. The inquest has shown pretty clearly that both men were roughly handled on Saturday night, and others were deliberately looking for them on Sunday' to renew the assault; also that Finley. was knocked down and lacked before he used the revolver. Bjebce no doubt there will be a milder verdiot Iban expected. ,
