By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, May 4. The quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom amounts to 2,128,000 quarters and for the Continent 348,000 quarters. The American visible supply of wheat is 81,500,000. The weekly returns of the Bank of England, published to-day, show the total reserve in notes and bullion at £11,716,000, and the proportion of liabilities at 37£ per cent, being a decrease of £1,884,000 on the total reserve, and a decrease of 3£ per cent on the proportion of reserve to liabilities. The British Ambassador at the Argentine Republic denies the reported failure of several banks at Buenos Ayres. SOFIA, May 1. Prince Ferdinand, aocompanied by the Premier, is touring in the northern provinces. At Plevna the Prince was received with great enthusiasm from the populace. In the course of a 6hort address on the occasion, Prince Ferdinand said the affection and loyalty of the people of Bulgaria would give him strength in defending their interests, and in his efforts to secure the triumph of the National cause. M. Stambonloff, the Premier, in thankiDg the people of Plevna for their manifestations of confidence, said that Prince Alexander of Battenburg, their late ruler, lacked the courage to remain at Sofia. He claimed their confidence for Prince Ferdinand, who represented the independance and future glory of Bulgaria. (special to united press association.) LONDON, May 2. It is believed that the Marquis of Salisbury is somewhat anxious at the present attitude of the Russians, as he apprehends that they may occupy Bulgaria, and then commence to advance on Constantinople. May 3. The ship Eastminster, which is believed to have been lost during a storm off tho coast of Queensland, has been posted at Lloyd's as overdue. The non-arrival of the Star-ley expedition has not been the cause of any anxiety being felt here, as it is known that he may have been retarded in progress owing to insufficient means of transport. The despatch received from Emm Bey states, not having received word from Mr. Stanley, he has sent a search party out in the direction he should come. He expected the parties would meet about December last. BUENOS ATRES, May 3. It is estimated that the liability of the fifteen banks which have suspended payment is seven million pesetas. PARIS, May 3. The authorities intend making further protests against the duty on bottledwines imposed by the English Government. CONSTANTINOPLE, May 3. The Sultan is taking active steps to fortify Adrianople. St. PETERSBURG, May 3. Additional Russian iorces are to be sent to the Asia Minor frontier.
