RAHOTU.

The annual meeting of householders was held on the 23rd, at the schoolhouse. Mr. Gane was elected to the chair, as against Mr. Chapman, by 15 to 11, and there were ultimately about 40 present. The Chairman read the balance-sheet and report, which were adopted. These showed there had been 14 meetings, and the number of scholars on the roll last quarter was 40, average attendance, 30, showing an increase during the year. The receipts were £16 10s 9d ; expenditure, £15 8s 4d ; cash in hand, £1 2s sd. After an unpleasant and somewhat personal discussion as to who had a right to vote, Mr. E. R. Morgan proposed, that the chairman record a protest against the householders, south of the Moutoti, taking any action in the election of the committee on' the grounds of their having already elected a committee. Messrs. Wright, Hill, Stevenson, Anderson, Chapman, Morgan and Tyrell supported the motion. Only eight voting in favor of it, while five out ot six living between Moutoti nndOkahu.voted against it. [Householders south of Moutoti have not yet elected a committee. — Ed.J The minority abstained from further voting, but the business was carried on irrespective of them, and a committee were elected, viz. — Messrs Coffey, Luck, Bryan, Collins, Conaglen, Dttnton, and G. W. Gane. The committee met and elected Mr. G. W. Gane chnirman of committee.
