Horses that have ever won public money or been nominated within the past six months for any race meeting, hack races excepted, are not eligible to start for this race. To start at 12.45 p.m. Sapling Race of 40 soys. Second horse to receive 5 boys. out of the etakes. Distance, six furlongs. Entrance, 2 soys. To start tit 1.30 p.m. Egmont Handicap of 175 soya. Second horse to receive 25 boys out ot the stakes. Distance, two miles. Nomination, 1 soy ; acceptance, 2 soys, and a final payment of 2 soys at the post. Winner of any handicap of the value of 100 soys or more after declaration of weights to carry 51b extra. To start at 2.30 p,m. Maiden Plate of 30 soys. Second horse to receive 5 soys out of tbe stakes. Distance, 1£ miles. Entrance, £1 10s. Open to all horses that have never won any race exceeding in value prior to entry. Winner of any race after entry to carry a penalty of 51b. To start at 3.15 p,m. Novel Race of 30 soys. Distance, about one mile. Entrance, 1 soy. Post entry. Weight not to be under Bst 71b. Weights to be declared at 8 p.m., and acceptances received at the office of the hon. secretary up till 10 p.m. on night of first day's races. To start at 2.30 p.m. Hack Flat Race of 15 soys. One mile and a distance. Entrance, 1 soy. Entry to be made before the start for Waimate Handicap. Weight not less than Bst 71b. Weights to be declared at 8 p.m., and acceptances received up till 10 p.m. on night of first day's races. Winner of Wairnate Handicap to carry 51b extra. To start at 4 p.m. Forced Handicap of 25 eovs. Distance, one mile. Nomination for winners, 1 soy ; losers, free. Acceptance, 1 boy, not later than 15 minutes after declaration of weights. Final Payment : Egmont Handicap, 2 soys., at the post. Weights will be declared on Thursday, 12th January, 1888. RULES AND REGULATIONS. All Nonrinationr., Weights, Acceptances, and Entries will close at the Hon. Secretary's Office at 9 p.m , unless otherwise specified in programme. No entry will be received for any race except upon this condition — that nil disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by a majority of the Stewards present, or those whom they may appoint. Their decision upon all points connected with the carrying out of this programme shall be final. All entries to be sealed and addressed to the Hon. Secretary, Hawera, entrance money enclosed, with name, ago at time of entry, pedigree, and, in Lhf> case of handicaps, performances of the horse, name of the owner, and colors of tbe rider. Any jockey riding excepti n tbe colors eutered will be fined 2 soys. When two or more horses start, the property of the same owner, a distinguishing color must be worn. All persons intending to withdraw horses are required to give notice to that effect to the Hon. Secretary or Clerk of the Scales one half-hour before starting. Any person neglecting or refusing to comply witn'such rule shall pay a fine of 5 soys. to the race fund. All races to be run under the Taranaki Jockey Club rules. Horses walking over will only receive half the stakes. No nomination or acceptance will be received on any pretence whatever, unless actually accompanied by the necessary amount payable ; the attention of Owners is particularly called to this Regulation.
