The Postal Conference.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) [Received January 24, 1.30 a.m.] SYDNEY, January 23. The Postal Conference met again today, when the representatives of the Eastern Extension Cable Company were in attendance, and laid their proposals respecting cable charges before the members. The company in their statement declare they have lost .£15,000 since the New Zealand Government withdrew the grant of a subsidy, and that they would sell the cable to that colony for £120,000 guaranteeing the cable in good working condition, and would provide for maintaining it for a defined period. Alternatively, they are willing to agree to reduce the rates if a stated yearly revenue is guaranteed or if they were handed the land line charges collected by the colonies. Mr. Rowan, who represents the Pacifio Cable Company, will lay his proposals before the Conference to-morrow, and then Sir Wm. Fitzherbert will, on behalf of the New Zealand Government, lay down their proposals. Resolutions were passed to-day favoring intercolonial postal notes, and a parcel post system waß recommended, the pries to be 5d per pound with a minimum of lOd. It was suggested that every colony should adopt the system when possible.
