(reuter's telegrams.) MELBOUBNE, November 18. A cricket match was commenced yesterday between Mr. Vernon's eleven and eighteen of Ballarat. The English team went to the wickets first, and, at the conclusion of the day's play, they had scored 343 for the loss of four wickets, towards which Stoddart contributed 95, Abel 33, Hawke 70, and Peel (not out) 41. MELBOUBNE, November 20. Mr. Vernon's team, which had scored 243 for four wickets in the match with the eighteen of Ballarat on Friday, resumed their innings yesterday, and succeeded in making 475 runs hefore all vrere disposed ot. The local team only managed to put together 70 in their first innings, and had to follow on. When time was called Ballarat had two wickets down for 49 runs. The match was declared drawn.
