At a special meeting of the City Cuuncil on Wednesday, the resolution passed n.t last cuec'ing to pay M.v. Hi»giuson, 0.8., £7 7s per day while making inquiries regarding tl\o method of disposal of sewage and rubbish at home during his visit there, was confirmed. Councillor Coombes said he would take the opportunity of acquainting the ratepayers that v piece of jobbery had been couamitted. The words were taken down, and the council went into committee to consider the matter, the result being that Councillor Cootnbes was filled £2, and Mr. Travers, solicitor, was instructed to recover it if not paid in fourteen days.
