An important judgment was given in the District Court to-day. The North New Zealand Woollen Company sued Mr. Styak to recover i'47 los, allotment money and calls on a hundred shares. Defendant resisted payment on the grounds of fraudulent representations, which the Jndge held were proved, but as defendant had not repudiated his shares as soon as he discovered the fraud, judgment was given for plaintiffs with costs. Notice of appeal was given.

At a meeting of the Accident Insurance Association, the chairman, in moving the adoption of the reports, said there had heen heavy reductions in the income, and the directors found it impossible to hring the expenditure within the margin of the tncorae. They, therefore, recommended the shareholders to release the company to the best advantage, in order to avoid further liabilities. The outstanding liabilities were not stated in the report, but they consisted almost entirely of three law cases, which had yet to come on.
