LATEST PROM TONGA.
(per united press association.) RUSSELL, February 15. Arrived — Sandfly, from Tonga. The captain reports the massing of 3000 natives. The prospect is serious. The assassins were being tried by the King in person, at the time of the departure of the Sandfly. The Eev. Mr. Baker, who was in too dangerous a condition to be removed, will go on to Fiji to catch the Arawata,
February 16. The Herald's correspondent telegraphs from Eussell the following item of Tonga news from the Bthooner Sandfly. The natives tried and condemned to death by
the native court belonged to the "rebel chiefs Tobue and Tarenka. The latter is a son of one of those to be executed as being the principal mover iv the conspiracy. He was some time ago in Auckland as servant to the Eev. Baker. If Eaker had been killed, his supporters intended to retaliate by murdering Moulton. When the King heard of the petition for the reprieve of the six condemned men being signed by the whites, he ordered them to be taken to the Island of Mallenouh or Snake Island, and shot at once. The soldiers had orders to return in the dark, so that none would know who committed the deed.
