The latest election returns show that 60 Ministerialists and 14 Opposition have been elected to the Legislative Assembly.

The following have been T appointed to the Legislative Council: — A. Gavvan, S. A. Joseph, G. A. Lloyd, W. S. Pigott, S. A. Stephen, E. Nickery, and J. Watson.

The steamer Ranger has been wrecked in Trial Bay. The captain and engineer were drowned.

Hon. Mr. Dally, who was seized with an apoplectic fit on Friday last, is now recovered.

The directors of the City Bank have decided to increase the capital of that institution.

The workmen employed by Hudson Bros, accept a reduction of 5 per cent, on the present wages.
