Over nine flights of hurdles, 3ft 6m high. Nomination, 1 soy ; acceptance, 2 soys. To start at 11.30 o'clock. 2. Hack Hurdle Race, of 20 soys; second horse to receive 5 soys from tbe stakes. Entrance, 1 soy. Post entry. One mile and a distance. Weight not less than lOst. Horses that have ever won public money or been nominated within the past six months for any race meeting, hack races excepted, are not eligible to start for this race. To start at 12.15 o'clock. 3. Flying Handicap, of 60 soys; second horse to receive 10 soys. out of the stakes. Three-quarters mile. Nomination, 1 soy.; acceptance, 2 soys. Winner of any handicap of tbe value of 30 soys. or more after declaration of weights to carry slbs extra. To start at 12.45 o'clock. 4. Novel Race, of 30 soys. Distance about one mile. Entrance, 1 soy. ; post entry. Weight not to be under Bst 71bs. The winner to become the property of the Club, and to be sold immediately after the race. To start at 1.30 o'clock. 5. Egmont Handicap, of 225 soys ; second horse to receive 30 soys. and third horse 20 soys. from tbe stakes. Nomination, 1 soy ; acceptance, 4 soys ; and a final payment of 2 soys at the post. Distance, two miles. Winner of any handicap of the value of 100 soys or more after declaration of weights to carry 51b3 extra. To start at 2.30 o'clock. 6. Maiden Plate, of 40 soys. For two-year-olds and upwards ; weight for age. Distance, It miles. Entrance, 2 soys. Open to all horses that have never won any race exceeding £25 in value prior to entry. Winner of any race after entry to carry a penalty of 51bs. To start at 3.15 o'clock. 7. Hack Flat Race, of 20 soys ; second horse to receive 5 soys from the stakes. Entrance, 1 soy ; post entry. One mile and a distance. Weight not less than Bst 7'bs. Horses that have ever won publicmoney or been nomina ted within the past six months for any race necting, back races excepted, are not eligible to start for this race. To start at 4 o'clock. 8. Waimate Handicap, of 60 soys; second horse to receive 10 soys from the stakes. Distance, li miles. Nomination, 1 soy ; acceptance, 2 soys. Handicap to be declared immediately after the running of tho Eginont Handicap. To start at i.45 o'clock. A STEEPLECHASE MEETING WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, 10th MAY, 1887. RULES. No entry will be received for any race except upon this condition — that all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by a majority of the Stewards present, or those whom they may appoint. Their decision upon all points connected with the carrying out of this programme shall be final. All entries to be sealed and addressed to the Hon. Secretary, Hawera, entrance money enclosed, with the name, age at time of entry, pedigree, and, in case of handicaps, performances of the horse, name of the owner, and colors of the rider. Any jockey riding except in the colors entered will be fined 3 soys. Post marks will not be received in future under any pretence whatever ; and nominations uupaid at the time of tbe due date of weights will be struck out of the list. When two or more horses start, the property of the same owner, a distinguishing color must be worn. Any person neglecting or ref vising to comply with this rule shall pay a fine of 2 soys. to the race fund. All races to be run under the new Rules of Racing. Horses walking over will only receive half the stakes. Qualification fee for non-members residing in the Hawera County to be £2 ; those residing outside of the county, free. No other nomination will be received under any pretence whatever after the time specified for closing. All persons intending to withdraw horses are required to give notice to that effect to the Secretary or Clerk of the Scales one half-hour before starting. Any person neglecting or refusing to comply with this rule shall pay a fine not exceeding 5 soys. to the race fund. In all races the second horse only saves his stakes when it is specially mentioned.
