VALUE OF LAND IN THE PARIHAKA BLOCK.

Sir, — In your issue of Satnnlay, the 4th inßtant, under tbe heading of "News and Notes," you stated that a surveyor had informed you that the land in the Parihaka block, which is now being surveyed, ,1s equal to any to be found on the Waimate Plains. As this statement might be calculated to mislead people, would you permit me to state that I know the country Well, and my firm belief is, that two ■acres on the Plains, on an average, are as good as three on the Parihaka block, whether for sheep, cattle, or agricultural purposes. Those who are at all curious can easily judge for themselves, if they will take a spade, and go out prospecting on the block for % few days. I was speaking, some time since, to one of the oldest surveyors in this district, and one who is thoroughly acquainted with nearly every acre on the block, and his opinion coincides with xay own as to the relative value of land on the Waimate Plains, and that in the Parihaka ulock. I trust, Sir, for tbe sake of intending settlers, that {'on will find space in your widely-circu-ated journal for these hastily - penned lines. Perhaps others, who, like myself, are acquainted with the coast, will give their opinion to the public, through your columns, as to the ralue^of the load in the Parihaka block. — Yours, &c, Old Coaster.
