fEEUTER'S SPECIAL TO STAR.]

London, July 8.

The Board of Trade returns of imports and exports for last month show satisfactory increases as compared ■with last year. The French Chamber of Deputies has adopted a compromise regarding the Communists, agreeing to grant an amnesty to all whom President Grevy pardons before July 14. In the cricket mateh — Australians v. eighteen of Newcastle-on-Tyne— the home team was 105 behind their opponents in their second innings : they made a good stand, and were not disposed of until their score had reached 202 runs. Tho Australians then requiring 96 runs to make to " win the match, went in for their second innings, but want of time prevented its completion, and when the stumps were drawn, they had scored 58 runs for the loss of four wickets, the match therefore being a drawn game, the Australians re^ quiring to make 38, and having six wickets to fall.

An action has been brought in the" Queen's Bench Division of the High Court of Justice against Mr. Bradiangh, to test the legality of permission being ' granted him by the House of Commons, to make an affirmation instead of the customary oath.
