Wellington, Thursday, July 8. A number of unimportant notices of motion were dealt with in the afternoon. In the evening, Mr. Hutchison moved the second reading of the Chinese Immigration Prohibition Bill. The Hon. Mr. Hall thought the Bill went too for. A long debate took place, the Bill being ultimately read a second time by 31 to 12. The Charitable Aid and Hospitals Endowment Bill, and Fire Brigades Bill, were also read a second time. Friday, July 9. In the House to-day, it was stated that the Government had not authorised Mr. Boyd to represent the colony at meetings at home about the Unity of the Empire. Some confidential correspondence which had taken place with Sir Julius Vogel had been laid before the Public Accounts Committee, who considered it inadvisable to make it public. It was resolved that the House should Bit on Mondays for the remainder of the session. In Committee of Supply, the Hon. Mr. Hall said that the Government would apply the reduction of 10 per cent, to all salaries, pay, and wages, except in very exceptional cases. A long discussion on the subject encued, and it was unfinished at the time this message had to be despatched;
