CARLYLE.
(from oub own correspondent.) Carlyle, Friday. Towards the latter end of last week a youthful couple repaired to the. registrar's office, for the purpose of being uuited in the holy bonds of matrimony. In the excitement of setting out, however, witnesses were omitted ; consequently a respectable Patea tradesman was pressed into khe service while passing. The ceremony over, the said gentleman might easily be pardoned for having smacked his h'ps in anticipation of the coming champagne, but his delusion was quickly dispelled by the young and blushing bride, who, on reaching the open air, asked him " if he wasn't going to shout." At a meeting of the Agricultural Association, held on Saturday, the offer of a piece of ground for show purposes was considered, and conditionally accepted. Committees were appointed to canvas for more members. A team will be selected from the following to play against the Hawera Football Club : — Adainspn, Baggett, Byrne, Coutts (captain), Chadwick, J., Chadwick, H., Dasent, Gower, Heenan, Jones, Kitchen, Pearce, Powell, Bead, Sinclair, Sargeant, Tumor, Williams.
