HAWERA MONTHLY SALE.
Hawera, Friday. Mr. Freeman H. Jackson reports :— The ■ale to-day drew a large attendance of settlers and others, the yards being well filled with a superior class of stock. Prices for the best, bred cuttle were m favor of the buyers, whilst inferior animals made extreme rates. Mr. Middlemas's cows and heifers, which showed a lot of good breeding, did not meet |the attention they deserved. All the lots were sold, with the exception of a few milch cows, and one pen of fat cows. Cattle — 295 head were yarded. Best cows, LlO, Ll3, up to LlB j others, not so well bred, L(J 10s to L 9; heifers, Ls los to L 7 sb; cows and calves, L 5 7s 6d; bullocks, L 5 17s 6d; yearlings, L 2 15s and L 3 10s. Sheep — One pen wetbers, 7s 9d. Pigs, horses, and dead stock brought fair prices.
