NAENAE ROAD

REASON OF DELAY The Naenae-Waddington Progressive Association wrote to the Lower Hutt City Council, at Monday night's meeting, stating- that it upheld the bus drivers' recent action in» drawing attention to the bad state of Naenae Road, and Council to have the road put in good order. The letter was referred to the works committee, it being stated that the matter was the subject of negotiations with the Government.

In reply to Councillor F. Lons-dale-the City Engineer said that the position of the road would be worse if oil was used instead of water to abate the dust nuisance. The cost, too, would be four c or five times greater. Councillor E. F. Rothwell said it should be impressed upon the residents that negotiations had been proceeding with Government Departments for two or three years. The work should be done out of loan money. It was the Government, not the Council, which had held up the work.
