Careful attention has been paid to the financial side of the Club. Your Committee spared no efforts to keep down the expenses and conserve your best interests. | Obituary. ; We regret to report that during the year two •of our members were removed by the Hand of Death —Mr. J. Kennington who had filled the position of President, and Mr. J. ' Scholes, who was for many yeara Honorary Auditor and at one time held executive office in the Club. Our sincerest sympathy was expressed to their families. Greens. I The greens were all in good playing order. All greens have been carefully top-dressed and sown. The members can look forward to the | coming season with every confidence that the greens will again be excellent for play. Club Competitions. 1 The usual competitions were car--1 ried out and the results are as folI lows: — Champion Rink —A. Moore, W- Bock, | J. Roper, H. L. Fraser (s). ( Champion Pairs. —Messrs H. G. I Brooks and R. Y. Shearer (s). Champion Singles—Mr T. W. Slinn. . Junior Singles—Mr. H. Hayes. ' Inter-Club Games. The Club entered as usual for the Saturday and Wednesday Pennants. The annual friendly games were played with Victoria and Eastbourne. In both instances the usual friendly spirit of bowls was evident. In the contest with Eastbourne it is interesting to note our representatives retain the banner for the 4th time in succession. The Hamilton Cup Match was played against Wellington on the Wellington Green and a veryenjoyable time spent. The Club was also represented in the match against Manawatu Centre, and in the t Barnett Tiki match at Wellington. Hutt Valley Banner. This Competition was again played between the Valley Clubs. . The , Banner this year was won. by our' Club. - ■ ' 'j Presidents' Cup.— This match was duly played as arranged with Petone. The Cup this year, was won by (his Club after a keen contest. i Duthie Cup. ! The Twenty-Sixth Annual Competition for the Duthie Cup took place ( at Wanganui, Wellington this year being successful in winning the cup. The following meiners represented the Club: —E. J. Guiness, S. S. Millington, R. Y. Shearer, H. G. : Teagle (s); J. Keir, C. C. Odlin, H. I G. Brooks, M. J. Hodgins (s). ( , Veterans' Day. J We were represented at the Veterans' Gala Day by Messrs F. Compton, W. Spite, H. G. Lockett, jD. Whiting, W. Hendry and R. Y. ■ Shearer. Tournaments. The usual Tournaments were held , | during the year—the Centre in December, Hutt Valley in January, and J the McArthur Shield at Easter. This , year the Dominion Tournament was held at Wellington. Our greens were used, and some very interesting games were played. In all these Tournaments we were represented; also at Nelson, Blenheim and Rotorua. General. The Committee resolved to place on record the following resolutions: '"That the. General Management Committee records its appreciation ,; of the President's very suuco<ifnl year oi office, and accords to Mr. and Mrs. W. Bock its thanfcs for [ their many acts of goodwill to tre Club." "That this Committee place on record its appreciation of Mr. J. Stonehouse's services as secretary for the past seven years. ' Membership. Bowling—Playing, 93; Associate 2; Non-playing 9. Tennis. —Playing, 65; Non-playing 1. Croquet.—Playing 18; Non-playing 10.
