LADY HARRIERS.
[ Since the inception of the Butt Valley Ladies' Harrier Club a couple of seasons back, the girls have been under [ the control of the Hutt Valley Men's ! Karriex Club, but this year they are running as a distinct body. On Satur- - day afternoon their official opening took place at Mr and Mrs Dome's residence Norton Park, and proved to be a nuost successful gathering. Last year the p&ck was only six strong • and when: compared with the eighteen girls that participated in the outing on Saturday "j the season promises to be highly suel I cessful. The run was an invitation oneand the trail led over tfw"oT miles of ! • country, Mr A. Marshall being in
charge of the pack, with Miss E. Powell as captain. The,, fallowing girls comprised the pack: Misses S. Price, G. Pilcher, J. Pilcher, S. Treanor, M. Rowe M. Jones, D. Hawthorne N. Stack, N". Campbell, D. Johnson, M. Dome, J. Hut ton, V. Baker, J. Cattle, M. O' Callagan, M. Byrnes and K. O'lCallagan. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the host and hostess at the conclusion of the run and' was much appreciated. Mr. Marshall, on behalf of the girls, thanked Mr and Mrs Dome for their hospitality, Mr Dome suitably replying. The writer could not help but.notice the flushed,healthy faces of the girls as they gathered round the table and the run undoubtedly had a beneficial effect. Owing to Anzae Day being' observed on Saturday next, the second run of the season will , take place" on Saturday 2nd May from Hutt Park at the invitation of Mrs Jones.
