PLUNKET SOCIETY.

AN URGENT APPEAL.

' The diffiiewlt financial position feeing experienced at the present time is haT-

ing a serious effect on the finances of the Hutt-Plunket Society. The annual subiscriptions, on which the Society has depended in the past, have fallen off to an alarming extent, and the Society is faced with a very difficult problem, in caTrying on its good work during the coining year. So acute is the position) that the Committee must confront drastic retrenchment in. certain directions. It is possible that it may be necessary to dispense with, the services of one of the two Plunket nurses, although it is sincerely hoped that this will not be necessary, fox it would mean. that the homes would not be visited, and the rooms would be closed on one or thro days each week.* .

With the extension of the district and1 the substantial increase in the po-* pulation " in the Biorotfgh, it is more than ever necessary to provide an effee tive Plunket organisation, and the Committee hopes that retrenchment in this qiirection may be avoided. ' :

The committee makes an urgent appeal to the residents of I3ie borough^ and a special appeal to the mothers who benefit by the treatment, in the hope that they will do their utmost to support the work financially to greater extent than has hitherto been the case.

It is sincerely hoped that the public will extend its practical support as early as possible. Subscriptions may.

be sent to Mrs E. Cameron, secretary, 67 Pretoria Street.
