LOWER HUTT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

A special general meeting of the JLcnvei Hutt Ohamiber of Commerce was held in the Biver Board Booms on Monday evening. The president, Mr. J.1 W. Andrews presided. The sum of £40 has been subscribed, by the local business people as an extra inducement for people to spend, their money in their own town during the Xmas season and it is hoped that the people of the surrounding district jwill 'show their appreciation of the efforts of tbose who are willing to do

everything possible in these difficult times to help themselves.

The service will start on Friday morn ing and continue, as per the special time table, until Xmas Eve. It is estimated that a total distance of 311 miles will be covered.
