MARRIED MEN w SINGLE MEN. An annual event which is always

■ looked forward to with great interest by the football enthusiasts of Taita jis the rugby football match, Married Men v. Kingl'e .Mm, which, is played lit the conclusion of the club competition. Oh Saturday afternoon a fairly large crowd assembled at the Taita football ground to witness the match which is played for the Hewer Gup, donated for competition >by tl\e popular president, Mr. I<\ S. Hewer. Th* married men took the lield with, the i-x pressed intention of relieving the single men of the coveted trophy. Wearing new pink and gold perseys, donned for the occasion, the married jnen looked a formidable proposition. The single-men, ..wearing their club colours, -however^ were no less a forr midable side and odds wore even as both teams lined up: for the kick off. The teams were as follows:— Married.. Men. — J. From' the 'kick off it Vas evident that the married men were going to make a strong bid for, the cup held by the single men and they kept up a hard -forward ; : ' attack" •.■throughout the first half, the single men being kept ; basfr- defending. SMOKE CONCERT,

. In the' eyening a . smoke concert was held in the Taita' Hall to celebrate the event! :■: ''Mr; _Stari Briee occupied the ;- chair. Borrah, McDougali and- lipye; V Vice presidents responded to by Mr. McMillan. .

The President- congratulated the club on being the Tunners-up in the ."Junior Championship but regretted that through the lack of intercs't on the part of some of the juniors who failed to attend .practice, the championship had not been won. Several other speakers spoke in the same way and condemned the apathy which existed in the club.
