CHURCH CONCERT.
An audience which filled ovcrv part of tlie schoolroom assembled on Friday evening hist, to assist in the concert, pi von on behalf of the Presbyterian Church building fund. Mr 11. AY*. Neighbour was in the chair and the programme submitted was most satisfactory in every respect. Msss White presided at the pianoforte and played the accompaniments throughout the evening with much discrimination. Her two solos " Auld Lang Svne" and " Le jot d'eau " were performed with the utmost precision and delicacy of touch. Various familiar part songs were rendered by a full-voiced and capable glee party during the evening, the most tuneful being " Here in cool Grot," and " Lausrh and grow Fat." Mr Lynds sang " The Pioneer" in his best manner and Mr Willacy acquitted hinself most creditably in "Tlie Song that reached my Hesrt. Miss May Malfroy, wliose voice is developing rapidly and is capable of still further improvement, sang "Ye Banks and Braes" very sweetly, and little Elsie Murray chanted one of her infantile ditties with charming naivete. Miss Murray and Miss F. Murray were also most successful in their numbers, the song and chorus "Who's that a-calling" being particularly effective. Mrs Wilson deserves the utmost credit for her exquisite rendering of " The dim Hills far away," and Miss Pattio Griffiths was also heard to great advantage in the sympathetic song "Little Nell," to which Miss Selby played the accompaniment. The duet " Sweet Bird of Eve," by the Misses Robinson was another meritorious item which was received with marked satisfaction. Mr Roth, who is endowed with a pleasant woice which he manages with considerable skill, contributed two songs, Miss Ginders playing the accompaniments most judiciously. A small modicum of the comic element was infused into the performance by Mr Willacy to the intense delight of the younger portion of the audience. At the termination of the concert a hearty vote of thanks was accorded theso ladies and gentlemen outside the Presbyterian body who had assisted in the evening's amusement.
