Sydney, October 8. —In the Legislative Assembly to-night Mr Crick read a confession by Meagher. The latter confirms the statement made by Sir Julian Salomons and exonerates Mr Crick from any knowlodgo of tho affair. Meagher has resigned his seat, and expresses the intention of leaving the country when he has made reparation to the law. He demands that Dean be arrested for perjury. He further states that he was determined to endure the mental torture ii'> longer, and to follow the voice of truth .seeing thnl others were likely to be arrested and placed in the felon's dock. Mr Crick broke down several times and his finishing sentences was, "Ayounglifo blighted, sir, and a resignation handed in." The resignation was accepted. Mklhoukn'K, October B.—Tho Chief Justice has decided that the scheme ot reconstruction of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company adopted in London is not binding on the creditors in the Colony and awarded the creditor wh took this view the £4,000 claimed.
