THE AUSTRALIAN PRIMATE ON THE MARRIAGE LAWS.

The Priir ate of Australia, tlio Right Rev. Sauoaaroz Smith, Bishop of Sydney, has issued some amended marriage regulations according to tho rite 3of tho Anglican Church. Among other matters those provide ' that no marriage bo celobrated, otherwise than in a church or accustomed plaeo of public worship, except when permission shall have been granted by tho bishop ; that no marriage be celebrated by the clergy otherwise than after the publication of the banns or the issue of a license.' In the opinion of the Bishop, after divorce has been pronounced, the party who has been pronounced guiltj r of infidelity to the marriage vow shall not be permitted to be re-married according to the church's rights. It is further pointed out ' that although marriage with a deceased wife's sister is recognised by the law of the colony, this law imposes no duty or obligation upon the clergy with regard thereto.'
