Constable Walsh would not do so, and tho three walkod to the station, and after the sheet was made out tho prisoner was put in gaol. The mayor protested on the ground that the man was not drunk and that he (the mayor) was ready to bail him. An altercation ensued resulting in the mayor being locked up. Mr Bonnet, J.P., was sent for, and bail was allowed. Mr Christie's wife and several citizens were present, and tho mayor formaPy charged constable Walsh with drunkenness. An altercation again ensued, and the mayor was again put in tho lock-up only to be bailed out immediately. Constable Walsh is very reticent on the matter, preferring to report to headquarters.
