DEATH OF VICTIM. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Charged with assaulting John jJoseph Owen on June 7th at Pctone so as to cause him actual bodily harm, Leonard Neiliug, aged 2"), a labourer and brushmaker, appeared before Mr. Luxford, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. Sub-Inspector Dempsey said that accused was arrested at Waihi on the present charge. The man assaulted had .since died. The police asked for a re[mand for one week. When bail was asked for SubInspector Dempsey stated that the full charge had not yet been preferred. A remand was granted and bail refused.
