WAIRAU MASSACRE SEQUEL.
RECENT DISCOVERY CONFIRMED BY FURTHER INFORMATION. JBy Telegraph—Press Association, BLENHEIM, Last Night. Information given by the descendants of Te Ronga, the Maori woman whose death from a British bullet led to the Wairau massacre, makes it practically certain that the skeleton found on the spur of Massacre Hill, overlooking the scene of the first clash between Te Rauparaha's party and Captain Wakefield's men is that of Te Ronga. Natives now state Te Ronga was buried near the spot where she was slain. It had been intended to remove the body later for burial probably in the North Island, but events after the massacre moved too quickly and the remains were left where they were buried.
