Although unmasked by Tom Lurich, the ‘‘mysterious ghost’s” stocks have not slumped as a Leichhardt wrestling alt ruction. Prepared for such a contingency as the removal of Ids mask the ghost had added the disguise of sticking plaster and covering his face with his hands he retired to his dressing-room as soon a.- his mask was torn away.
Lurich, who previously had announced his intention of unmasking the ghost, caused an early sensation by de-l-lining trt enter the ring unless his opponent removed the mask, but he was eventually persuaded to go on with the bout.
While Lunch divided his attentions between attempts to secure a fall and to removf the mask, his opponent concentrated on the former which ho secured with a short-arm scissors in the second round. In the fourth round Lurich obtained a fall with a body scissors and immediately afterwards he tore the mask from the ghost's face. The ghost thereupon refused to continue and the contest was awarded to Lurich.
