'ln connection with the evidence given by Mr Stanley Grange, sharebroker, before the Royal .Commission at Sydney, in which it was stated that £750 had been paid by one of Mr McArthur’s companies to Mr V. R. Meredith, Crown Solicitor, Auckland, Mr who is at present on a visit jto Napier, says: “The sum of £750 was paid to me as Crown Prosecutor, acting for the Crown in recovering money due to the Railway Department and the Land and Income Tax Department. This money was received ni t settlement of the claims and forthwith 'paid into the Public Account in the j ordinary way,”
