Accident to Express
DRIVER CARRIES ON. CHRISTCHURCH, Last . Night. While the night express from Invercargill to Christchurch was travelling at a high speed between Dromore and Chertsey, the driving rod of the engine broke. No damage was done to the track. The driver was able to carry on with the same engine. The train reached Christchurch ninety minutes late. The officials say that the feat of bringing the heavy express to Christchurch on one engine is an outstanding achievement.
