Smart Work for Recovery of Car
TWO MEN ARRESTED HAWERA, Last Night. The co-operation of the police and the South Taranaki Automobile Association resulted in a smart recovery yesterday evening of a car taken from Hawera which was parked in a street. It was reported missing at 10.40 and a broadcast was arranged by the secretary of the Automobile Association at 10.50. Ten minutes later advice was received that the . car was found abandoned at Wanganui. Early this morning the Wanganui police were advised that two. men had engaged a taxi to proceed to Hawera. A watch was kept on the bridge south of Hawera with the result that the travellers in the taxi, Oswald Roy Willcocks and Hp Fredrick Kirk, were arrested and charged later before Jus-' tices with converting' to their own use a car valued .at 4975. They were remanded, bail being fixed at £SO each.
