Extracting Sting From Oath Bill
SENATE MAY EEMODEL DE VALERA’S MEASURE British Official Wireless. Received Sunday, 9.50. p.m. RUGBY, June 4. It is anticipated that the Irish Oath Bill, the second reading of which was passed last night by 23 votes to eight, with .17 abstentions, in the Irish Free State Senate, will be subjected to considerable amendments when the measure is considered in the committee stage in tho_ Senate. It is stated that the Opposition, which is in the majority in the chamber, may bring forward a new mandatory clause safeguarding the application and status of the Treaty with Great Britain and providing that tho Act shall not take effect until it is approved by the high contracting parties to the Treaty.
