FAREWELL TO MR AND MRS RALPH. 1

A "farewell social" was tendered Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Ralph and family on Tuesday evening in the Methodist Church, Otaki. There was a good attendance of friends over which the Rev. M. Ayrton presided. Musical and other items were given by Mrs. Fiebig, ■Miss M. Thomson, Mr. Len. Lowry, Rev. M. Ayrton, and Mrs. Irving. An address was given by Mr. H. Cockrell, regretting the loss sustained in the choir by the removal of Mr. Ralph, L. Ralph and Lilian Ralph. He said that ■their attendance at Church for seven years had been most praiseworthy and ■would be much missed. Howard Ralph had also, held the position of Church Steward and had been very faithful in carrying out the duties of the office. The Rev. M. Ayrton, leader of the Bible Class, said that four regular members of his class were now leaving the district, but some consolation*could be o-athcred from the fact that the church at Johnsonvilic would bo strengthened by the acquisition of the Ralph family. The church’s best wishes' followed them in their new home to which they would be going next week. Mr. A. P. Ralph suitably replied on their behalf and appreciated the kindly regard in which they had been held and the <*ood wishes that had been expressed. A small presentation was nrnde to the various members of the family by the choir, Bible Class, and the church members and friends. Miss Tear was also presented with a Bible from the members of the Bible Class as a momento of many profitable evenings spent together in the class. Happy washes accompanied the gift. » dainty supper was dispensed by the ladies of the Guild under the direction of Miss Meta Taylor.
