ACQUITTED OF MURDER.

THE WANGANUI CASE,

AVANGANUI, Last Night.

The trial of Elizabeth Grace Donaldson for the ‘murder of her husband .concluded in- the Supreme Court this ■afternoon.

After a retirement of an hour, the jury acquitted accused. The verdict was applauded by a crowded gallery, but the applause was quickly checked by Court orderlies. His Honour, summing up, said there were three courses open to the jury—to convict of murder, to convict of manslaughter, or to acquit. He ruled that there was not sufficient evidence to convict of murder. If on the other hand, accused had been stung to passion by her husband's provocation, then they were entitled to convict of manslaughter.
