Received Wednesday, 10 p.m. HAVANA, Feb. 3. Reports reaching the Spanish language newspaper, El Mundo, at two o’clock this morning said that Santiago, Cuba, had been laid in ruins by an earthquake with a toll of two thousand lives.

SANTIAGO (Cuba), Feb. 3

One-third of the city is in ruins and 1500 are estimated to be dead following two severe earthquake shocks early this (Wednesday) morning.
