THE PIANOFORTE SIMPLIFIED.

A new method of instruction in pianoforte-playing is to be introduced into Levin shortly by Miss Ivy Middlerniss, L.A.B, The object of the course is to provide 'elementary tutelage in music for children who have not previously had any instruction whatever and also to those children who have not a piano in the .home, as as to foster a love of music by selecting those who have a natural aptitflde for it and furnishing them with a fundamental knowledge upon which, later, a more detailed training may be based. This will bring a knowledge of music into the life of every child from the ages of 6 years to 12 years. The method to be used is that of Major Bavin, whose classes have already attained great success in England, and are also proving very helpful in several centres in New Zealand. Each class will be limited to five children during the first term, so every one will receive special training and help.*'
