PILOT KILLED BY SNIPER'S
BULLET.
MECHANIC FLIES MACHINE ifOME AND SUCCUMBS TO CRASH.

The heroism of an Air Force observer is reported from Risalpur, where a plane crashed when returning from bombing hostile frontier tribesmen. Flying Officer Stroud and Leading Aircraftsman Wiltshire left in the evening, dropped bombs on the tribesmen's stronghold, and swooped down to 600 feet to fire a machinegun burst on tribesmen. Stroud was hit in the neck by a rifle bullet.from a Mohmand sniper', and slowly died, but before he collapsed ho signalled Wiltshire to take over control. Wiltshire, who had no knowledge of piloting, took the machine 45 miles home, but when alighting at the emergency landing-ground at Risalpur the machine washed. Wiltshire was jbhrown out and injured, and he died in the evening-
