In replying to a deputation from professional musicians who have lost thoir employment owing to the advent of tho talkies and canned music and who are now seeking the special taxation of film organisations in order to create an unemployment fund, tho Prime Minister (Mr.' J. H. Scullin) said the Government viewed very seriously tho inroads made by canned music. Tho Government was certainly not going to allow America to take away the employment of this country. Ho suggested that the parties should have a conference and try to solve the problem themselves, otherwise tho Government would have to take a hand, .just as it was. doing in regard to the tariff.
