United States Pilot Crashes Into Ground

•Lieut. George Caddihy, an experienced Naval pilot, was killed when the ’plane he was testing crashed. The ’plane fell from an altitude of 10,000 feet and buried itself so far in the earth that only the pilot’s foot wore visible.

The Navy bought the ’plane following the Schneider Cup races and it w-as named the "British Bristol Bulldog.” It w r as a single-seater‘biplane, capable of doing 180 miles an hour with a full military load.

Follow aviators who witnessed Lieut. Caddihy’s dramatic death cannot understand why he failed to use the parachute. It is recalled that a fortnight ago this crack pilot, while testing another 'plane in a power dive, was threatened with death when the wing collapsed. On that occasion, he remained with the plane and brought it down safely.
