The All Blacks had no difficulty in defeating the Queenslanders, who wore outclassed in all departments of the game but notably in the back division. The match was plavcd in dull weather before a crowd of 2000 at 3.20 on the Exhibition ground. The teams were:— Queensland: Full back, H. Hebb; three-quarters, C. Adair, T. Brown, G-. Ward, E. McGhie; five-eighths, E Miles; half, J. Woodward; forwards, A. Frizzell, L. Phillips, J. Long, H. Hamalainen, M. White, J. Bayada, E. Bonis. E. Thompson (captain). New Zealand: Full back. Tuck, threequarters, Circnside, Hook, G-cddes; liveeighths, Lilburne, Cundy; half, Leys; wing'-fonvsird, Porter (captain); forwards, Kivell, McWilliams, Rika, Si cere, Mahoney, Boicl, Cottcrell. Porter kicked off, the New Zealanders winning four scrums in succession and unfolding back movements each time" which took play into the homo half. Then Ward broke through, supported by Frizzell, and rushed play into the visitors' twenty-five. After that, play became more even. Lilburne got through .smartly, running cleverly to the home twenty-five but a forward pass held up the movement. Shortly after, the ball went right along the New Zealand three-quarter line and a score seemed certain but McGhie took a loose pass, making another characteristic burst to half way. His pass was missed and New Zealand again pressed. Twerity-four minutes after the start. Geddcs scored for New Zealand finishing a three-quarter movement from the ruck in the home twenty-five. The kick at goal failed. HcGhie's cleverness proved the bright spot in Queensland's play. The New Zealanders now took charge of the game and from a ruck near'the line, Be id touched down but again the kick failed. New Zealand broke through a minute after resumption Grenside scoring but again the kick failed. Porter was playing a heady game, starting several movements. The crowd,, which had increased by about 2000 since the match began, saw Queensland on the defensive. A beautiful passing move started by Queensland in its own twenty-five was spoiled 'by a knock-on. The New Zealand forwards were now pressing and winning the rucks. For a few minutes, Queensland rallied but then Cundy received the ball from the scrum, bent the ! 'i ; l back and scored, converting his try. Five minutes later. Geddes followed through a long kick and scored. The kick failed. Nearing full time, McWilliams scored and Cundy goalcd then Kivell went over and Cundy again goalcd. the game ending.—New Zealand' 27. Queensland nil.
