CREW OF KAITUNA IS DIFFICULT TO PLEASE

DELAY AT AUCKLAND. TROUBLE over pay and the DONKEYMAN. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Kaituna was delayed at Auckland over Saturday night, owing to disputes tvi tli the crow. The vessel was to have sailed for Grcymouth at six o’clock in the evening but the men requested that they be paid a fortnight’s wages, according to the agreement on vessels engaged on the coastal trade. The request was acceded to and in order to allow the crew to purchase supplies for themselves, the vessel’s departure was postponed for throe hours. At nine o'clock, however, further trouble occurred when the stokehold staff objected to sailing with the donkeyrnan, who had been eight months in Kaituna but who promptly resigned and was paid off. The substitute engaged in tho doneyman’s place was also objected to and tho vessel's departure had again to be postponed. This morning, there was further delay when one of the trimmers was missing and another reported that he was too ill to go in the vessel. Eventually a fireman wa-s promoted into the donkeyrnan’» position and another fireman was signed on as well as tw r o trimmers, to replace the sick man and tho missing man. The vessel then took her departure shortly before noon.
